EQ2: Now offering a Free2Play option... O.o

It was just announced that Sony Online Entertainment is going to be offering a Free To Play version of their popular Everquest 2 MMORPG. This service will be identical to their subscription-based Everquest 2 game except the servers will not intermix.

Their F2P Everquest 2 service will be called Everquest 2 Extended. The servers will be completely seperate from the subscription-based Everquest 2 servers. Apparently, parts of the Everquest 2 Extended content will be available free while other parts will require micro transactions to access.

They are testing the new service out, so head over and take a look.

Bigemnose ...	Here's the one big problem I see with this whole thing... They are going to have PURCHASABLE EQUIPMENT (with stats), healing potions, self rez potions, etc on the Extended servers. How many really cool items are we going to see put in the game that are PURCHASABLE from the marketplace on the Extended servers that are not available on the Subscription servers? If they are making items (equipment, potions, etc) to sale on the Extended servers for real money from the marketplace, then will ALL or ANY of these items be available as drops and/or quest rewards on the Subscription servers? I tend to believe they will not be available at all OR will only be purchasable from the marketplace for real money on the Subscription servers. Why do I say this you ask? Look at all of the cool items in EQ2 right now that you can ONLY GET THROUGH LoN loot cards. To me, this new F2P system is going to bring even more items to the game that Subscription-based gamers are going to be exclud
